Opening Day 2008: Not according to plan.....

Opening Day 2008 did not go quite as I had hoped. I go every year and this was no exception, rain or shine! Johanna and I went, had great seats in sec 271 (my regular seats are in bleacher sec 509, above the Cards bullpen) and we were under shelter and had a great view! We ate lunch, saw the pre-game festivities (hello Mizzou pep band and Mizzou FB players!!) and then saw 2.5 innings of a GREAT baseball game! The Cardinals batted around, Wainright kept throwing K's, Albert went yard, all was right with the world as we were leading 5-1 in the 3rd. Then, the rain, thunder and lightning came and the game was called after an hour or so. This sad girl went home and pouted all night. You cannot cancel Opening Day! You just can't! I did not go to the make-up/ do over the next night as I had plans with mom I could/ would not change. I missed a cold and stinky make up game. They will be fine this year and I cannot wait for my next game!

Lunch: hot dog wrapped in a pretzel, a very good thing and the best buy in Busch Stadium!

Tradition: A-B Clydesdales doing a lap to the "beer song" Here Comes the King.

Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith and Red Schoendist to greet the boys as they pull up.....I do want to mention that Red "pounded" each players fist as they came up, how cool is he?!

Tradition: parade of red and white mustangs with a player or coach inside, around the stadium.....is there anything better?

Both teams (us and the CO Rockies) announced and ready to go!

Stan the Man, not well enough to be on the field with the other HOFers.

Fredbird and Truman the Tiger hugging, seriously, best thing ever!

Mizzou FB coach gary pinkle was supposed to be there to throw out the ceremonial pitch, but he got stuck in FLA, so they sent Chase Daniel and Jeremy Macklin to throw out a football, very cool!
Amanda's two loves: Mizzou and Cardinals (have you seen the name of my blog?) together!!!!!

Booooo, Amanda hates this sight!

So you know those tickets we passed up yesterday...turned out they were those sweet box seats where they bring you everything. We could have gone, eaten a lot, and just fallen asleep at the game...
